WINNERS — Doctor Who: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy

Thanks to Roadshow Entertainment I have three DVD copies of Doctor Who: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy to give away. The winners have been chosen!

Here’s what they had to do to get one:

In 20 words or less tell me why clowns are creepy.

It’s interesting to note that many of the answers had more than 20 words. Is that an indication that I asked for too complex a task in too few words… or simply proof that Doctor Who fans can’t count?

Most of the answers focussed on the appearance of clowns — red noses, painted faces, etc — but there was one entry which pointed out that a clown’s appearance is perfect for hiding something creepy…

A clown’s face is the perfect guise for any sick, twisted, psychopathic individual (or non-humanoid) intent on causing mayhem & destruction.

Very clever use of an ampersand (technically a symbol rather than a word) to increase your length, Bron. Exactly 20 words, plus one symbol. :-)

Then I couldn’t go past the answer that referenced Stephen King’s It, which features the creepiest fictional clown of all time…

They all remind me of Pennywise who hid in the sewers, before grabbing kids and eating them.

Tim Curry’s performance in the mini-series adaptation still sends shivers up my spine. “They ALL float down here. When you’re down here with us, you’ll float too!”

And finally, this answer made me laugh and laugh and laugh…

Reminds me of my mother-in-law after a few glasses of wine, complete with red nose, crazy eyes and chilling laugh!

I think that now would be a good time to point out that I actually get along with my mother-in-law very well. ;-)

Thank you to all those who entered. Congrats to all the winners — your DVDs will be in the mail tomorrow.
