I will be doing two sessions (10.30am-11.30am & 11.45am-12.45pm) for Education Week, talking to Grade 5 and 6 students about the writing process.
Melbourne Science Fiction Club — Friday 25 May 2012, 8pm
I will doing a talk at the Melbourne Science Fiction Club. I’ll be talking about writing about Doctor Who, the creating and extending of the Gamers universe, and finishing up with a little bit about making a living out of writing.
Continuum 8: The 51st Australian National SF Convention — 8-11 June 2012
The Continuum spec fic conventions are run annually in Melbourne. This time around they are doubling as the Australian National SF Convention. I’ll be there speaking on panels, doing readings and generally hanging around. Check out the website for more info about the con.

I will attending the opening of the Bayside Literary Festival.

I will be reading some of my work at the Reading Night organised by the Fellowship of Australian Writers.
Bayside Literary Festival, Micro-fiction — Saturday 23 June 2012, 2-4pm
I will be doing a presentation about micro-fiction at the Bayside Literary Festival, along with fellow-author Richard Holt.
Bayside Writing Competition — July 2012
For the third year running, I will be one of the judges for the school-aged section of theBayside Writing Competition, held as part of the Bayside Literary Festival. The competition opens on 21 May and closes on 31 July.
Bayside Literary Festival, Truth, Dare & Promise: Issues in Youth Literature — Saturday 7 July 2012, 2-4pm
I will be taking part in this panel discussion at the Bayside Literary Festival, along with Hazel Edwards, Kelly Gardiner and Adele Walsh.
Con 9 From Outer Space! — 14-15 July 2012
Now here’s something a little different — a convention for aficionados of the “golden age” of science fiction film, television and radio. I’m not appearing at the convention, but I will be judging their short story competition. Check out the website for more info.
