Chronos Awards

I’m rather chuffed to announce that Viewing Clutter has been nominated for a Chronos Award. Woo Hoo! What are the Chronos Awards? Let me tell you about them.

The Chronos Awards honour excellence in Victorian Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. There are a number of categories, professional and fan based. In 2010 I was lucky enough to win one for my novel, Gamers’ Quest. In 2012, the sequel, Gamers’ Challenge, was shortlisted.

This year, Viewing Clutter has been shortlisted for “Best Fan Publication”. It is in this fan category because I don’t get paid for it. That’s right folks… I do it for the love of DVDs and Blu-rays. 🙂

The Chronos Awards are held annually at Continuum, Melbourne’s speculative fiction and pop culture convention. In order to vote in the awards you need to be a Continuum member. Or, if you feel inclined, you can purchase a voting membership for $5. Voting has already opened and will continue until 20 May 2013. Details here.

There are lots of great authors and publications shortlisted this year. But I’d like to bring your attention to the nominees in the “Best Fan Publication” category.

First up, there’s Dark Matter, an SF, Fantasy and Art zine, edited by Nalini Hayes. Check it out.

Then there’s SF Commentary, a zine edited by Bruce Gillespie. Check it out.

And, of course, there’s this little blog that you’re currently reading. 🙂

If you are a Continuum member, I would encourage you to go and vote. Take a look at the shortlist, read the nominated pieces of writing and vote for your favourites.

And if you’re not a Continuum member… I’d encourage you to check out their website and consider coming along to Continuum 9 this year. These conventions are AWESOME!

And finally… many thanks for Roadshow Entertainment and Madman for supporting this blog.

Catch ya later,  George
